Yes! Anyone is eligible to get married in Argentina, regardless of their nationality or sexual orientation. In fact, Argentine law prioritizes foreigners by allowing them to set their wedding date as soon as five days after arrival.

First and foremost, Argentina gives priority to foreign couples when it comes to booking a marriage appointment with the civil registry.

Typically, local residents must book their desired date one month out, as soon as the online agenda becomes available. In this context, it’s not uncommon for couples to struggle to find their ideal wedding date.

Foreign couples, however, are able to initiate the process just five days after arriving in Argentina. They’re also granted the additional security that they will be able to secure an appointment no matter what. Even if the civil registry’s agenda is fully booked, the Buenos Aires City Government reserves extra spots exclusively for foreigners.

Same-sex marriage has been legal in Argentina since 2010. Argentina, and Buenos Aires in particular, is an open and welcoming place to LGBTQ+ travelers and couples who hope to get married here.

An added bonus to consider is the extremely favorable exchange rate that Argentina offers. Given the situation with its local currency (the Argentine peso), everything from accommodations, food and wine, and cultural activities are incredibly affordable for foreign visitors.

Foreigners must spend at least five days in Argentine territory in order to be eligible to get married in the country.

If this is the first time you’ll be getting married, the only document you’ll need is a valid passport. If you have been previously married or are widowed, we’ll explain exactly what documents you’ll need in further detail below.

Additionally, you will need to select two witnesses that are residents of the City of Buenos Aires. If you don’t know anyone, there’s no need to stress about this part; the Fab team of experts will take care of the details!

Finally, note that Argentine legislation has made a blood test for syphilis prior to getting married entirely optional. However, if you do choose to get the test done, you and your partner must do so together in Buenos Aires. Note that it will take up an extra morning of your time.

If you’ve been divorced or widowed and plan to get married in Argentina, you will also need to present your birth certificate, marriage certificate, and if applicable, your divorce decree. Each of these documents must be apostilled before arriving in Argentina. The process of obtaining the apostille will vary depending on your country of origin.

An apostille is a seal that confirms the authenticity of a document, allowing it to be used for official legal purposes abroad. Once your documents have been apostilled, you’ll send them to our team in Argentina, where we will undertake and coordinate all the necessary administrative work for your wedding ceremony.

Yes! A member of the Fab team will be present throughout your wedding, ceremony, and reception (if you choose to have one). We will guide you through everything you need to do in Buenos Aires and are available via WhatsApp for 24/7 support.

If you don’t have a strong command of the Spanish language, you will definitely need a translator! During the marriage ceremony, you’ll be interviewed by the judge, who typically wants to know how you met your partner and what love or fidelity means to you.

If you can’t explain this in Spanish, or are doubtful of your ability, we will provide you with a translator at no additional cost. This person will provide simultaneous translation during the ceremony, ensuring that you’re aware of everything that’s going on.

You will receive a digital marriage certificate 48 hours after the ceremony. Following this, the Fab team will take care of getting the apostille, an essential step which confirms the document’s legal validity at the international level. This means you will be able to use it for any visa paperwork or other procedures in your home countries and beyond.

We can guarantee that the apostille will be processed in an express manner, meaning you’ll have it sent by email within a week. As always, we’ll be on hand to ensure everything is squared away, so you don’t need to stress!
